The 1st Hole
Par:Yards:
Black:Gold:White:Red:
4 414 387 344 307
Pro Pointer:
A strong opening hole with a generous landing area. The ideal tee shot is just left of the tall white pine in the center of the fairway. Your second shot is more uphill than it looks, so take enough club. The generous approach to the right of the bunker allows for a run up shot if needed.
The 2nd Hole
Par:Yards:
Black:Gold:White:Red:
4 292 277 262 204
Pro Pointer:
Although this is the shortest par 4 on the course, it has the most bunkers (7), and none of them are inviting. The ideal tee shot is a lay-up, leaving a full short iron to the elevated green. Long hitters may try to drive this green but the risk is probably greater than the reward. This green is larger than it looks, and slopes to the back.
The 3rd Hole
Par:Yards:
Black:Gold:White:Red:
3 213 194 176 129
Pro Pointer:
First of all, take a moment to enjoy the view. Now take 1 to 2 clubs less than normal and watch the ball soar over the wetland and onto the green. If your ball does not make it (many don't) please use the drop area near the green.
The 4th Hole
Par:Yards:
Black:Gold:White:Red:
4 346 322 300 264
Pro Pointer:
A very strategic short par 4 which offers a great chance for a birdie. Note your yardage card to find the distance from your tee to the fairway bunker. The ideal tee shot should end up just short and right of this bunker but long hitters may want to try to carry the bunker to leave a short chip to the green. This fairway is wider than it looks so swing freely. Remember, the green slopes towards the swamp.
The 5th Hole
Par:Yards:
Black:Gold:White:Red:
5 520 491 474 442
Pro Pointer:
This par 5 is not as difficult as it appears. Big hitters can easily fly the first bunker on the left but there is a ton of fairway to the right and the second bunker is out of reach for most (see yardage card). The second shot should be played to left center of the fairway for an ideal approach. Enjoy this green setting surrounded by majestic white pines.
The 6th Hole
Par:Yards:
Black:Gold:White:Red:
3 180 160 145 113
Pro Pointer:
A very strategic par 3. Note the depth of the green is 41 yards. So allow for a two club difference depending on pin position.
The 7th Hole
Par:Yards:
Black:Gold:White:Red:
5 580 540 485 415
Pro Pointer:
The longest hole on the course, #7 plays even longer into the prevailing wind. The ideal drive is just right of the enormous bunker. The second shot must be hit within 170 yards of the green to avoid a blind shot. The approach plays slightly downhill with plenty of bail out area to the right.
The 8th Hole
Par:Yards:
Black:Gold:White:Red:
4 444 410 357 340
Pro Pointer:
Possibly the toughest hole on the course. The tee shot is uphill and ideally hit at the tallest pine in the center of the fairway. A slight right to left shot will leave you a mid to long iron to the green. The approach is more downhill than it looks and the ball will roll up onto the green. In case you didn't notice:: don't go left!
The 9th Hole
Par:Yards:
Black:Gold:White:Red:
4 370 346 319 273
Pro Pointer:
#9 requires a well placed tee shot just right of the large waste bunker. This will leave you positioned for a short iron between the two large oaks to an elevated green. The green does not hold well so hit it high. Short of the green is definitely better than long here.
The 10th Hole
Par:Yards:
Black:Gold:White:Red:
4 422 397 372 308
Pro Pointer:
The tee shot here may be the most demanding on the course with the dark cedar swamp left and the heather and white pines right. Your best bet is down the right side of the fairway as the land falls sharply to the left. The green setting is reminiscent of #11 at Augusta with a watery grave to the left and a bail out area right. #10 proves that you don't need bunkers to make a great hole.
The 11th Hole
Par:Yards:
Black:Gold:White:Red:
5 509 486 471 340
Pro Pointer:
Another great par 5. The ideal tee shot is just right of the fairway bunker. The second shot can be played to the right part of the fairway for safety or the more courageous can aim left of the bunkers for the ideal approach to this severely sloped two-tiered green. The back tier is lower than the front tier.
The 12th Hole
Par:Yards:
Black:Gold:White:Red:
3 179 153 135 93
Pro Pointer:
Take an extra club here as obviously you'd rather be long than short. The reverse approach behind the green makes this green look much larger than it actually is.
The 13th Hole
Par:Yards:
Black:Gold:White:Red:
4 412 386 360 316
Pro Pointer:
This hole is simply beautiful with the paper birch bordering the fairway. The ideal tee shot is played at the right edge of the fairway bunker. Anywhere left of center allows for an ideal approach to the green. Remember that you can run the ball up to the green on the generous approach but avoid the large green side bunker on the right.
The 14th Hole
Par:Yards:
Black:Gold:White:Red:
3 202 184 163 145
Pro Pointer:
In my opinion, this is the toughest green to hit on the course. The green has a valley through the center so any shot hit to the front will roll to the middle.
The 15th Hole
Par:Yards:
Black:Gold:White:Red:
4 384 367 330 281
Pro Pointer:
A short risk/reward hole. The ideal tee shot is over the fairway bunker (check yardage card for the carry from your tee). The safe shot is down the left side, but this leaves a semi-blind approach. Keep in mind that there is 20 yards of fairway in front of the green so the ball may be run up. This green slants from left to right as you approach it.
The 16th Hole
Par:Yards:
Black:Gold:White:Red:
5 510 492 453 421
Pro Pointer:
Personally, this is my favorite hole on the course. It is not only visually stunning, but also a strategic par 5. Big hitters should beware of the wetland area approximately 40 yards past the fairway bunker. The safe play is just right of the bunker off the tee. You will want to lay up to a yardage which will leave a full swing into this elevated and well-guarded green. Long is better than short on your approach shot.
The 17th Hole
Par:Yards:
Black:Gold:White:Red:
3 166 147 119 103
Pro Pointer:
A short par 3 featuring the smallest green on the course, this hole plays downhill so use a club less if anything. By the way: "Don't miss it right or long!"
The 18th Hole
Par:Yards:
Black:Gold:White:Red:
4 446 429 411 389
Pro Pointer:
This classic home hole demands two well played shots in order to putt for birdie. The drive is best played directly at the fairway bunker, although slightly right of this bunker will leave you a better view of the green. The second shot can be run onto the green. The green slopes left to right much more than it looks so keep this in mind when approaching. Finally, don't let the pressure of knowing that everyone in the clubhouse is watching interrupt your concentration.
